The short answer: Almost every UAE resident needs a Cambodia visa before flying in, and the simplest route is the e-visa at the government's own portal, evisa.gov.kh. The tourist e-visa costs USD 30, usually takes 3 business days to approve, and allows a single entry and a stay of up to 30 days. Filipinos are the exception: they can visit visa-free. Everyone else named here, including Emiratis and Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan and Egyptian nationals, applies the same way, either online before you fly or with a visa on arrival at the airport. Whoever you are, you must also file Cambodia's free e-Arrival form within seven days of travel.
Angkor Wat, Phnom Penh's riverside and the beaches around Sihanoukville are a non-stop flight from Abu Dhabi, or one stop from Dubai. Here's what each group of UAE residents needs, and how the online application actually works.
Cambodia visa for UAE residents at a glance
| Passport | Entry to Cambodia (October 2026) |
|---|---|
| United Arab Emirates | e-visa or visa on arrival, 30 days |
| India | e-visa or visa on arrival, 30 days |
| Pakistan | e-visa or visa on arrival, 30 days, per airline check-in data; confirm before you book (see below) |
| Philippines | Visa-free for tourism |
| Bangladesh | e-visa or visa on arrival, 30 days, per airline check-in data; confirm before you book |
| Sri Lanka | e-visa or visa on arrival, 30 days, per airline check-in data; confirm before you book |
| Egypt | e-visa or visa on arrival, 30 days |
| UK and other Western passports | e-visa or visa on arrival, 30 days |
These rules are by passport, not by where you live, so your UAE residence visa doesn't change them. They come from Cambodia's e-visa portal and from the visa and passport information airlines use for check-in, current as of October 2026.
Who needs a visa, and who travels free
Filipinos: visa-free
Philippine passport holders don't need a visa for tourism. The airline check-in data Emirates publishes, from IATA Timatic, gave a stay of up to 30 days when we checked, with an extension possible once in Cambodia, so confirm the limit if you plan a long trip. You still need a passport valid at least six months, a return or onward ticket, and Cambodia's e-Arrival form (below). Filipino nationals and airline crew leaving the Philippines must also register their own departure at etravel.gov.ph up to 72 hours before flying out, a Philippine government requirement separate from anything Cambodia asks for.
Everyone else: e-visa or visa on arrival
Emiratis, and Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan, Egyptian and British and other Western passport holders all follow the same process: apply for the e-visa before you fly, or get a visa on arrival at the airport instead. Both cost the same and allow the same single-entry, 30-day stay.
Pakistani, Bangladeshi and Sri Lankan passports: many travel sites still list these three as excluded from Cambodia's e-visa and visa on arrival, needing an embassy visa instead. When we checked in October 2026, the airline check-in data Emirates publishes, from IATA Timatic, showed the ordinary e-visa or visa-on-arrival route for all three, and evisa.gov.kh's terms name no excluded nationality. We could not confirm the change on a Cambodian government notice, so before you book, check that the e-visa form accepts your nationality, or ask your airline what its check-in system shows for your passport.
How to apply for the e-visa
Apply only at evisa.gov.kh, run by Cambodia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. Commercial sites resell the same e-visa with their own fee added, so type the address yourself.
- Fill in the secure online form with your passport and travel details.
- Upload a digital photo and a scan of your passport's bio page.
- Confirm your details and pay the USD 30 fee by card.
- Receive your approval letter by email, usually within three business days.
- Print or save the e-visa certificate to show immigration on arrival.
- File the e-Arrival form separately before you fly (see below); an e-visa doesn't replace it.
You can register up to ten applicants in one session, so a family or small group can apply together.
Where the e-visa works
An e-visa gets you in at Techo International Airport (Phnom Penh), Siem Reap Angkor International Airport and Sihanoukville International Airport, plus two land crossings: Bavet, on the Vietnam border, and Tropaeng Kreal, on the Laos border. As of October 2026, the portal lists the Thailand land crossings at Poipet and Cham Yeam as temporarily closed to e-visa entry until further notice. If you're flying in from the UAE this doesn't affect you; if you're planning to cross overland from Thailand, check the current list on evisa.gov.kh or use the visa on arrival instead.
Visa on arrival, if you'd rather apply at the airport
Cambodia's visa on arrival costs USD 30 for tourism, the same as the e-visa, and allows the same 30-day stay. The visa and passport information airlines use for check-in lists what you'll need at the counter: a passport with at least one unused visa page, a return or onward ticket, a hotel reservation, and proof you can cover your stay. It's a slower queue than arriving with an e-visa already approved, so apply online in advance if you can.
Fees, processing time and validity
- Tourist e-visa (Type T): USD 30, single entry. It's valid 3 months from issue, meaning you must enter Cambodia within that window, and allows a stay of up to 30 days once you're in.
- Visa on arrival: also USD 30 for tourism, with the same 30-day stay.
- Processing: the portal quotes 3 business days for the e-visa. Apply earlier if you're travelling in a busy period such as December.
- Passport: valid at least 6 months from your arrival date, with at least one unused visa page.
The portal's own terms say the Ministry can revise visa fees or exemptions at any time, so check the fee shown at checkout before you pay.
The e-Arrival form: mandatory for everyone
Cambodia now requires every traveller, including visa-exempt Filipinos and anyone holding an e-visa or a visa on arrival, to complete the Cambodia e-Arrival form at arrival.gov.kh or on the CeA app, within seven days before landing. It's free, and it replaces the old paper immigration card, health declaration and customs form with one online submission. You'll get a QR code to show at the airport, and on arrival you now receive a digital v-Pass by email in place of an ink stamp in your passport. File it before you fly rather than at the airport.
Flying into Techo International Airport
Phnom Penh's flights now land at Techo International Airport (KTI), which opened on 9 September 2025 and replaced the old in-town Phnom Penh International Airport (PNH) as the capital's main gateway. Cambodia's own embassies have asked travellers to use the KTI code on flight bookings and visa applications, since some older systems still show the retired PNH.
Extensions
The e-visa portal handles new applications only. Visa extensions, the ordinary (business) visa and other categories are listed on its FAQ as separate matters, handled by Cambodia's General Department of Immigration in Phnom Penh rather than through evisa.gov.kh. If you want to stay longer than 30 days, ask at an immigration office inside Cambodia before your visa or visa on arrival expires.
Do I need to visit an embassy?
Not for a holiday. The e-visa and the visa on arrival both mean you never need to visit a Cambodian embassy. Other visa types, such as diplomatic, official or courtesy visas, are handled separately from the tourist e-visa: ask Cambodia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs which mission covers the UAE.
Flights from the UAE
- Abu Dhabi to Phnom Penh: Etihad flies non-stop.
- Dubai to Phnom Penh and Siem Reap: Emirates flies to both with one stop.
Check current times and any stopover with the airline before you book, since schedules change.
