The short answer: Emiratis have been able to visit Kyrgyzstan for tourism without a visa since January 2025. Indian, Pakistani, Filipino, Egyptian, Bangladeshi and Sri Lankan nationals need a visa, which they can get online: Kyrgyzstan's official e-visa, at evisa.e-gov.kg, gives a tourist stay of up to 30 days. A single-entry one-month e-visa costs about USD 52 with standard service, and roughly three times that for a decision within two business days. Bishkek is about four hours' non-stop flight from Dubai or Sharjah.
Kyrgyzstan is mountains, lakes and yurt camps: Ala Archa gorge an hour from Bishkek, Issyk-Kul lake and the high pastures of Song-Kul. It has become a popular summer escape from UAE heat, and its entry rules changed several times in 2025 and 2026, so older advice is often out of date.

Visa-free travel for Emiratis
On 4 January 2025, Kyrgyzstan dropped its visa requirement for tourists from six Gulf states, the UAE among them. Kyrgyz officials announced stays of up to 180 days within a year. Many visa websites still give the older figure of 60 days.
The visa-free entry covers tourism only. Work, study and other purposes still need the right visa. Kyrgyzstan tightened its visa-free rules for other countries at the end of 2025, so if you plan a long stay, confirm the current limit with the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in Abu Dhabi.
Who needs a visa
Ordinary passport holders from India, Pakistan, the Philippines, Egypt, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka need a visa for Kyrgyzstan. All six can apply for the tourist e-visa, which isn't open to every nationality. The requirement depends on your passport. Your UAE residence may help you get a visa on arrival (see below), but it doesn't remove the need for a visa.
How to apply for the e-visa
Apply at evisa.e-gov.kg, the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry's e-visa portal. It is entirely online, with no appointment and no original documents.
- Choose "Tourist (TS)" as the visa type, and single or multiple entry for one month.
- Fill in the form in English and upload a digital photo and your passport details.
- Choose standard service or the two-business-day service, and pay by card.
- Download and print the e-visa once it is approved, and carry it with your passport.
Your passport must be valid at least six months beyond the visa, with at least two blank pages. Every traveller needs their own e-visa, including children listed in a parent's passport. You can't apply once you are already in Kyrgyzstan, and fees aren't refunded if the visa is refused or unused.
Fees and processing time
- Single entry, one month: 4,504 som, about USD 52, with standard service
- Multiple entry, one month: 5,404 som, about USD 62, with standard service
- Two-business-day service: about USD 155 single entry or USD 185 multiple entry
The portal doesn't publish a processing time for the standard service. Apply at least three weeks before you fly, or pay for the faster service if you are short of time.
Visa on arrival for UAE residents
Tourism sources in Kyrgyzstan say that Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan, Egyptian and Filipino nationals, among others, who hold a UAE residence visa valid for at least 180 more days can get a one-month tourist visa on arrival at Manas airport in Bishkek. We couldn't confirm this on a Kyrgyz government site, and it doesn't appear to apply at Osh.
The e-visa is the safer choice: you know before you fly that you are approved, and you can show it at check-in. If you want to rely on a visa on arrival, confirm it with the embassy and your airline first.
After you arrive: registration and overstays
The e-visa portal says foreigners must register their place of stay within five working days of arrival, unless their nationality is on an exempt list. New registration rules took effect in late September 2026, and the new exempt list hadn't been widely published when we checked. Ask your hotel or tour operator on arrival whether you need to register.
Don't overstay. Kyrgyzstan tightened its rules in September 2026, and travellers who overstay are reported to face refusal of entry on later trips.
Flights from the UAE
- flydubai flies non-stop from Dubai to Bishkek in about four hours.
- Air Arabia flies non-stop from Sharjah to Bishkek, a few times a week.
- There is no non-stop flight from Abu Dhabi; fly from Dubai or Sharjah instead.
Flights to Osh, in the south, have been less regular. Schedules change by season, so check with the airline before you book.

Planning a trip to Kyrgyzstan
June to September is the season for the mountains and lakes. A week covers Bishkek, Ala Archa, Issyk-Kul and a night in a yurt camp. Almaty, in Kazakhstan, is a few hours' drive from Bishkek, so the two pair well; check the visa rules for your passport in both.
