Georgia Visa for UAE Residents: Who Travels Free and Who Needs the e-Visa

The short answer: Emiratis can enter Georgia without a visa for a full year. Most other UAE residents, whatever their passport, can also enter without a visa for 90 days in any 180-day period, as long as their UAE residence visa (Emirates ID) or UAE entry visa stays valid from the day they arrive to the day they leave. One group is treated differently: Pakistani, Bangladeshi and 15 other nationalities named by Georgia's embassy in the UAE only get that same 90 days if their UAE visa or residence permit is multiple-entry with at least a year left on the day they enter Georgia. If you are in that group and your UAE residence has less than a year to run, the embassy directs you to Georgia's C1 tourist visa, applied for online through geoconsul.gov.ge. Anyone else without a qualifying UAE document applies for the Georgian e-visa at evisa.gov.ge: a consular fee of USD 20 plus a 2 percent service charge, a separate USD 15 identity check called DuVerify, and a decision in at least five working days.

Tbilisi is a short flight from the UAE, and Georgia's old towns, Kakheti's wine country and the Caucasus mountains draw UAE residents all year. "Georgia is visa-free for UAE residents" gets repeated often, but the real answer depends on how much validity is left on your UAE document, and for some passports, on whether that document is multiple-entry too. Here is what Georgia's own embassy in the UAE and its e-visa portal say, checked in October 2026.

Who qualifies for visa-free entry

Emiratis

Georgia's embassy in the UAE says plainly: "Citizens of the United Arab Emirates may enter and stay in Georgia without a visa for one full year." That is on an Emirati passport, wherever the holder lives, and it is the longest visa-free stay Georgia offers anyone connected to the UAE.

UAE residents on another passport

The same page extends a shorter version of this to anyone who holds a UAE visa or UAE residence permit, regardless of nationality: "Individuals who hold a visa or residence permit of the United Arab Emirates may enter and stay in Georgia without a visa for 90 calendar days in any 180-day period." That covers an Indian, Filipino, Egyptian or Sri Lankan passport holder living in the UAE on a residence visa, or a visitor on a valid UAE entry visa. The condition is that the UAE document, meaning the Emirates ID or the UAE visa, is valid on both the day you enter Georgia and the day you leave, and that your passport itself has at least 90 days of validity.

Georgia's general eligibility checker at geoconsul.gov.ge, run by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, confirms this is not only about the UAE: it tells applicants that if they hold a visa or residence permit "from another country (like the EU, U.S., GCC, etc.)," they should select that country when checking whether they need a visa. A GCC residence permit from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain or Oman works on the same principle, through its own embassy, as the UAE version described here.

The exception: 17 nationalities

Georgia's embassy in the UAE names a shorter list of nationalities for whom the 90-day rule above only applies with extra conditions: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Congo, Cote d'Ivoire, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Ghana, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tanzania, Uganda and Yemen. For these passports, the embassy's page says the 90-day visa-free entry applies "only if the mentioned visa is multiple-entry and ... validity period of the visa and/or a residence permit is not less than 1 year" on the day of entry. A single-entry UAE visa, or one with ten months left, does not qualify, even though the same document would be enough for an Indian or Filipino passport holder.

Pakistani and Bangladeshi nationals are the largest UAE communities on this list. If your UAE residence visa or Emirates ID is multiple-entry with at least a year left when you land in Tbilisi, you travel visa-free for 90 days. If it has less than a year left, or is single-entry, the embassy's page sends you to Georgia's C1 category visa, for travellers arriving for tourism, applied for online through geoconsul.gov.ge's visit-registration system, which the embassy's page gives a duration of 90 days.

If you don't qualify: the Georgian e-visa

Anyone without a qualifying UAE document applies for Georgia's e-visa online at evisa.gov.ge, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' own portal. Georgia also grants some passports visa-free entry in their own right, separately from any UAE connection: check your own passport on the geoconsul.gov.ge eligibility tool before assuming you need the e-visa at all.

How to apply

1. Apply at evisa.gov.ge and nowhere else. The portal says it is not affiliated with any private company that offers to submit applications on an applicant's behalf.
2. Select your country on the application's first step, since the visa's validity period and the number of days you can stay depend on the passport you travel on.
3. Complete the application and pay the consular fee: USD 20 plus a 2 percent service fee, by Visa or Mastercard. The card does not need to be in your own name.
4. Complete DuVerify within 24 hours of finishing the first step. This is a separate identity check the portal added as a second mandatory stage, with its own fee of USD 15 per applicant, and the link to it is emailed to you.
5. Wait for a decision. The portal says this takes "not less than 5 working days," so apply well before you travel.
6. Print the e-visa once it arrives by email, and carry it with your passport. Every traveller needs a separate e-visa, including a child listed in a parent's passport.

Documents

• Passport, valid at least 3 months beyond the visa's validity period, with at least 2 blank pages, issued within the last 10 years
• A recent photo
• A credit or debit card for the fee
• At the border, not for the application itself: proof of your travel purpose, proof of accommodation, travel and health insurance, and proof you can afford the trip, which the portal says can be a bank statement, a letter from your employer or a sponsor's letter

Travel and health insurance

Evisa.gov.ge's FAQ sets the requirement out plainly: anyone applying for a Georgian visa should hold travel or health insurance that, if needed, covers the cost of their health condition or death, valid across the whole of Georgia, and travellers must be able to show it at the border or risk being refused entry. The portal does not state a minimum cover amount for the e-visa itself. Applying through the embassy in the UAE, such as the C1 tourist visa for the 17 listed nationalities above, carries its own figure: the embassy's document list asks for insurance that "must cover accidents above 30,000 GEL" for the whole visit. If you are unsure which applies to you, buy a policy that covers the larger figure.

At the border

Carry the passport you travelled on, your UAE residence visa or Emirates ID, or your e-visa, proof of accommodation, your return ticket and your insurance. Georgia's embassy page is clear that the 90-day visa-free allowance, however you qualify for it, is capped within any 180-day period rather than per trip, so several short visits in a year can use up the allowance faster than one long one. The embassy's page also says plainly that "final decision to cross the border is made by the Georgian Immigration Authority," so meeting the conditions above does not guarantee entry.

A common mistake

The most common mistake is assuming any valid UAE residence qualifies on the same terms for everyone. It does for most passports, but Pakistani and Bangladeshi nationals, among the 17 listed above, need a multiple-entry UAE visa with a year or more left, not just a valid Emirates ID. Check the exact wording on the embassy's visa information page before you book a flight.
