The short answer: from 1 July 2026 to 1 July 2027, Armenia lets nationals of 111 countries in without a visa if they hold a UAE residence permit valid for at least six months from the day they arrive. They can stay up to 180 days in a year. The list is reported to include India, Pakistan, the Philippines and Egypt; check your nationality on Armenia's Foreign Ministry site. Emiratis need no visa anyway. Everyone else applies for an Armenian e-visa online from USD 8.

Yerevan is about three hours from the UAE, cool when the Gulf is hot, and cheap once you land: monasteries in the mountains, Lake Sevan, wine country and a capital that stays up late. The 2026 rule makes it one of the easiest new trips for UAE residents.

The UAE residence rule

Armenia's government decided that, for one year from 1 July 2026, foreigners holding a valid residence permit from the UAE can enter visa-free, provided their nationality is on its list of 111 countries. The conditions are:

  • A UAE residence permit valid for at least six months from the date you enter Armenia
  • Proof of the residence: carry your Emirates ID, and the residence sticker in your passport if you have one
  • Your nationality on the list of 111 countries published by Armenia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs
  • A stay of no more than 180 days within a year

The list is reported to cover most passports held by UAE residents, including India, Pakistan, the Philippines and Egypt. Because a missing country means a refused boarding, check yours on the official list at mfa.am before you book.

The rule is temporary. It runs until 1 July 2027, and Armenia has not said whether it will be renewed. A trip that ends after that date may need an e-visa.

If you need a visa: the Armenian e-visa

If your nationality is not on the list, or your residence has less than six months left, apply online at evisa.mfa.am. The fees are:

  • USD 8 for a stay of up to 21 days
  • USD 39 for a stay of up to 120 days

You need a scan of your passport, a recent photo and your travel dates. Apply at least a week before you fly, and print the approval to show at check-in.

Getting from Dubai to Yerevan

flydubai flies from Dubai to Yerevan's Zvartnots airport and Air Arabia from Sharjah, in about three hours. Schedules change with the season, so check both airlines for your dates. In summer Armenia is far cooler than the UAE; in winter, Yerevan is cold and the mountain roads can close.

Combining Armenia and Georgia

Yerevan and Tbilisi are about five to six hours apart by road, so many UAE residents see both on one trip. Georgia has its own rules for UAE residents; see our Georgia visa guide before you plan the second leg.
