The short answer: a team day in the UAE costs AED 190 to AED 600 per person for most half and full days, before VAT, and the per-person price drops as the group grows. October to April is the outdoor season; from May to September you want an indoor or air-conditioned programme. Allow three to four weeks for an ordinary date, and much longer for December. Last checked 21 October 2026.
We move groups for a living, mostly out of the country, and the questions HR teams in Dubai actually ask us are not "what are some fun activities". They are: what does this cost per head, will it survive the weather, and how long do I need before the date. This page answers those three with real prices instead of a list of twenty ideas, and it separates the two different jobs involved: a day out here in the UAE, and a company trip that leaves the country.
A team day in the UAE at a glance
| Detail | |
|---|---|
| What it costs | AED 190 to AED 600 per person for most half and full days. Yachts, overnight stays and gala nights run well above that |
| How the price works | Volume bands, usually three. The per-person price falls at each band, and most bands also bill a minimum number of people |
| Season | October to April for anything outdoors. Fewer than half the programmes sold here run year-round or are built to work in summer |
| Group size | From 10 people up to about 600 for an all-staff day |
| How long | Three and a half to seven hours for a day out; 11 to 24 hours for a farmhouse or desert overnight |
| Lead time | Three to four weeks is comfortable. December, National Day week and the last fortnight of Ramadan go first |
| VAT | Corporate prices are normally quoted without it. Add 5 per cent to every figure on this page |
What a team day actually costs per person
Corporate pricing in the UAE is sold in volume bands, and this is the single thing that catches finance teams out. The same programme usually has three prices, and which one you pay depends on how many people you bring. Where the bands fall is set by the programme, not by the market: a dhow evening steps down at 30 people and again at 60, a desert camp takeover does not open until 40, an annual gala not until 80.
A dhow evening on Dubai Marina is a good example. It is AED 620 a head for a group of 10 to 29, AED 520 for 30 to 59, and AED 450 once you are over 60. The price advertised on the card is AED 450, because a card shows the best band. So a department of 18 should budget AED 620, not the number in the brochure.
Then there is the part that is easy to miss, and it costs more than the band does. A band usually carries a minimum number of people it is billed from, and on that dhow evening the 10 to 29 band bills from 27. A group of 18 is charged for 27 places, so the real cost is nearer AED 930 a head than AED 620, and the quote for 18 people and the quote for 27 are the same number. It is why a small team day is poorer value than it looks, and why a department of 18 is often better off going with another team on the same date. Ask for every band and the number each one bills from before you take anything to finance.
Roughly where things land, per person and before VAT:
- AED 190 to 300. A half day in the desert, a heritage morning in old Dubai, a museum day in Sharjah, an indoor charity packing session. The entry point, and where most first company days sit.
- AED 300 to 600. A full day with transport and a proper lunch: a farmhouse takeover in the Northern Emirates, a day in Abu Dhabi with guided entries, a private desert camp, a day across two emirates.
- AED 600 to 1,500. Deep-sea fishing with the catch cooked afterwards, a private desert site with falconry, an overnight at a farmhouse or under canvas.
- Above AED 2,000. A yacht for a leadership team, a gala or awards night, or a trip that leaves the country.
Two things are nearly always extra and nearly always forgotten: VAT at 5 per cent, and anything alcoholic. Coach transport from your own office is usually included, which matters more than it sounds, because self-drive to a desert camp is how half a team arrives late.
The season decides the activity, not the budget
This is the part generic team building lists ignore, and it is the first constraint in the UAE. From roughly May to September, an outdoor programme in the middle of the day is not sellable, whatever anyone promises you.
October to April is when the catalogue opens up: desert camps, dhow evenings, farmhouse days in Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah, Jebel Jais, the east coast, anything on a dune. If your date is in this window, you have the full range and your only real enemy is availability.
May to September narrows it to three kinds of day that genuinely work: indoor and air-conditioned programmes, hotel-based sessions, and anything on or in the water early in the morning. Indoor does not have to mean a conference room. An air-conditioned charity packing line that fills meal kits for a named charity runs from about AED 210 a head and produces a counted output at the end, which is a better story for the internal newsletter than a trust fall. A structured indoor competition day runs from about AED 260.
Ramadan is its own season. Daytime programmes do not work, but a corporate iftar does, and it is one of the few occasions in the year when a mixed team genuinely turns up. Plan it as an evening, not a day.
If you are picking a month from scratch, November and February are the two best months of the year for this: the weather is settled, and you are either side of the December rush. Our guide to the best time to visit Dubai has the month-by-month detail.
Start from what the day is for
The most common planning mistake is to start from a list of activities. Start from the one sentence you would use to explain the day to your CEO, then pick the format that fits it.
- Reward, after a hard quarter. Nobody wants to be facilitated. A private desert camp with the site closed to the public, or a dhow evening with your own branding and menu, does the job. No sessions, no flip charts.
- Alignment, or a strategy day. A farmhouse in Sharjah or Ras Al Khaimah taken over for the day: the same rigour as a hotel conference floor, without the carpet. A working session in the morning, a barbecue and open lawn after.
- New joiners who do not know each other. A culture or city day beats a competition. Walking somewhere together, with a guide, gets people talking faster than being put into teams.
- An all-staff day for 200 plus. Attractions, a family day or a gala. The constraint is venue capacity and coach logistics, not the activity.
- A leadership offsite. Small, long and uninterrupted. A yacht for six hours works because there is nowhere to go and nothing worth answering.
- Something to put in the sustainability report. Mangrove planting or a charity packing session, with a counted output and photographs you can actually publish.
Where to get a programme that is already priced
Most corporate enquiries here follow the same pattern. You describe roughly what you want, nothing happens for a few days, and what comes back is one suggestion with one number at the bottom of it. That is hard to work with when HR has to cost the day, get it approved and defend it afterwards.
The alternative is to shop from a catalogue that is already costed. Offsyte publishes every one of its 64 corporate programmes with the per-person price for every volume band, the number each band bills from, the minute-by-minute timeline, the group size limits and the exclusions on the page, so two options can be compared inside the meeting rather than three days after it. There are 14 categories across six emirates, from a half day in the desert to a multi-day trip abroad, on the Offsyte catalogue, and every outdoor programme carries a written weather trigger and a named fallback.
To be plain about it: Offsyte is our own corporate events arm, which is why the cost section above can quote real bands instead of guessing at them. If a corporate day in the UAE is what you need, that is the catalogue to work from. If the group is leaving the country, the rest of this page is ours.
When it should be a trip, not a day
There is a point where a day out stops being the right answer. Usually it is an annual kick-off, a milestone year, or an incentive trip the company has promised to a sales team. A trip abroad is a different piece of work, and the difference is time rather than money.
Three things change the moment the group leaves the UAE:
- Visas, which depend on each passport and not on the destination. A team of 30 in Dubai will hold a dozen nationalities, and the same trip can be visa free for one colleague and a six-week application for another. Start here, before flights. We handle them through our visa services.
- Passport validity. Most countries want six months left on the day of travel. On a group of 30, somebody always fails this, and you want to find out in week one rather than week six.
- One booking instead of four. Flights, hotels, transfers and the ground programme bought separately is four invoices, four cancellation policies and nobody holding the whole thing. Bought as one group booking, it is one quote and one point of contact if a flight moves.
For a company group we quote it the way we quote any group: the ground arrangement, flights out of Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Sharjah, and the visas, in one quote with real fares for your dates rather than an average. Our escorted group tours suit an incentive trip where people travel together on a fixed route with a guide. For something shorter and closer, Georgia is under four hours from Dubai, and the rest of our holiday packages can be run as a private group on your own dates. There is more on how an escorted trip is put together in group tours from Dubai.
How far ahead to book
For a straightforward day in a quiet month, three to four weeks is comfortable: that is enough for approvals, a headcount and a coach. Below two weeks you are choosing from what is left rather than what you wanted.
Three periods break that rule, and all three are obvious in hindsight:
- December. Year-end parties, gala nights and the best weather of the year compete for the same venues. Six to eight weeks, and earlier for anything over 100 people.
- National Day week. The public holiday makes it the easiest week to get a full team out of the office, which is exactly why everyone else wants it too. Dates and the pay rules are in our UAE National Day holiday guide.
- Anything abroad. Visas set the timetable, not availability. Eight to twelve weeks for a group, and longer if the destination needs appointments.
What to settle in writing before you sign
Almost every corporate event dispute we have seen comes from the same four gaps, and all four are cheap to close before the date and impossible to close after it.
- Exclusions, in writing. Not what is included: what is not. Alcohol, photography, extra hours, waiting time for a late coach, and VAT. This is the single most common argument at invoice time.
- The weather plan. For anything outdoors, get the trigger (what has to happen), the fallback (the named alternative, not "an indoor option"), and the deadline by which you will be told. Rain in the UAE is rare and expensive to improvise around.
- The final headcount deadline. The date after which you pay for people who do not turn up, and whether you can add people on the day.
- Who is liable for what. For anything on water, in a dune buggy or at height, ask what insurance covers and what your staff are signing. Then tell them in advance, because somebody will have a reason not to take part, and finding out on the coach is worse.
One more, which is not contractual but costs more goodwill than any of the above: ask about dietary requirements when you ask for the headcount, not two days before. On a team of 40 in the UAE you will have vegetarians, people who do not eat beef, people who do not eat pork, and at least one allergy.
Frequently asked questions
How much does team building cost per person in Dubai?
Most half and full days cost AED 190 to AED 600 per person before VAT. A half day in the desert or an indoor session starts around AED 190 to AED 260; a full day with transport, entries and lunch sits around AED 300 to AED 600. Yachts, overnight stays and gala nights go higher. The per-person price falls as the group grows, at thresholds each programme sets for itself.
What team building activities work in the Dubai summer?
Indoor and air-conditioned ones, and water activities early in the morning. Charity packing sessions, indoor competition days, hotel-based programmes, museums in Sharjah and Abu Dhabi, and escape rooms all run through the summer. Anything in the desert or on a dune is an October to April activity, whatever you are told.
How many people do you need for a corporate day out?
Ten is the usual minimum for a priced corporate programme, and most run up to 60 or 80. All-staff formats such as a family day or a gala go to several hundred. Watch the number the price is billed from as well as the minimum to attend: a programme open from 10 people may still charge for 25, so a group of 12 pays twice what the per-person price suggests. Below ten people you are better off booking a restaurant or a private tour than a corporate package.
How far in advance should we book a company day out?
Three to four weeks for a normal date. Six to eight weeks for December, National Day week or any group over 100. Eight to twelve weeks if the group is travelling abroad, because the visas set the timetable rather than the availability.
Is VAT included in corporate event prices?
Usually not. Corporate programmes in the UAE are normally quoted per person excluding VAT, so add 5 per cent before you take a number to finance. Ask for the figure both ways in writing so the invoice is not a surprise.
Can you organise a company trip abroad instead of a day out?
Yes. We arrange group travel out of Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah with the flights, hotels, ground programme and visas in one booking and one quote. Tell us the headcount, the month and the budget per person and we will come back with options that fit.
Where we come in
If the day is staying in the UAE, work from a priced catalogue and settle the exclusions early. If the group is leaving the country, that is what we do: tell us the headcount, the month and the budget per person, and we will come back with two or three options with flights and visas in the same quote. Message us on WhatsApp or call +971 4 589 0001. What groups who travelled with us say is on our reviews page.
