The short answer: a first Europe trip from Dubai works best as 7 to 14 days on one well-planned route, flying Emirates non-stop (about 5 hours to Athens, 7 to 8 to London or Paris). Sort the visa first. Emiratis need no Schengen visa, only the UK's ETA if London is on the route. Most other UAE residents need a Schengen visa (EUR 90, applied for up to six months ahead) and a separate UK visa for Britain. Guided tours we sell start from AED 4,389 per person for 7 days, and a first multi-country route like Paris, the Swiss Alps and Amsterdam from AED 6,005, with flights quoted on top. Go in May, June, September or October for the best balance of weather, prices and crowds.
This guide covers how to plan a Europe tour from the UAE: the visas, flight times, which route to pick for a first visit, whether a guided tour beats doing it yourself, what it costs and when to go. If you already know where you want to go, browse our Europe tour packages from Dubai.

Sort the visa before anything else
The visa decides how far ahead you plan, so check it before you fall in love with a route. It depends on your passport, not your UAE residence.
- Emirati passport holders can visit the 29 Schengen countries without a visa for up to 90 days in any 180. For the UK they need an Electronic Travel Authorisation, applied for online (GBP 20 since April 2026, valid for two years).
- Most other UAE residents, including Indian, Pakistani, Filipino, Egyptian, Bangladeshi and Sri Lankan nationals, need a Schengen visa. The fee is EUR 90 for adults and EUR 45 for children aged 6 to 11, plus the visa centre's service charge. You need travel insurance with at least EUR 30,000 of cover, and you apply to the country where you will spend the most nights. You can apply up to six months before you travel, and summer appointments in Dubai go fast, so start early.
- London is not in Schengen. A route that starts or ends in London needs UK entry too, which for most non-Emirati residents means a separate UK Standard Visitor visa. Allow three to four weeks after the appointment.
Two newer systems matter at the border. The EU's Entry/Exit System has replaced passport stamps: on your first trip you give fingerprints and a photo at passport control, so allow extra time. ETIAS, a EUR 20 travel authorisation for visa-free visitors such as Emiratis, has not started yet, and the EU will announce its start date months ahead. Our full guides cover the details: the Schengen visa for UAE residents and the UK visa from Dubai. If Schengen appointments are the hold-up, our Schengen appointment service can help.
Flight times from Dubai to Europe
Emirates flies non-stop from Dubai to every major Western European city, and Etihad covers many of them from Abu Dhabi. flydubai's European routes lean towards Central and Eastern Europe and the Balkans, which can make an open-jaw trip cheaper: fly into one city and home from another.
| City | Non-stop from Dubai, about |
|---|---|
| Istanbul | 4 hours 45 minutes |
| Athens | 5 hours |
| Rome | 6 hours 15 minutes |
| Vienna | 6 hours 20 minutes |
| Frankfurt | 6 hours 50 minutes |
| Paris | 7 to 7.5 hours |
| London | 7.5 to 8 hours |
| Madrid | 7.5 to 8 hours |
Flights to Europe leave Dubai early in the morning or around midnight and land the same day, so you lose little holiday time. Guided tours often start early on day one: the Europe Taster, for example, meets at 06:30 in London, so plan to arrive the day before. Times for more cities are in our flight times from Dubai guide.
Pick a route for your first Europe tour
The most common first-trip mistake is trying to see too much. A week covers one country well, or a fast loop through three to six. Two weeks gives you a classic loop without a new hotel every night. These are the guided tours from our catalogue that suit a first visit, with their lowest current price per person.
| Tour | Days | Where it goes | From (per person) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ireland in Low Season | 7 | Dublin, Galway and the Cliffs of Moher | AED 4,389 |
| Taste of Eastern Europe | 7 | Munich, Vienna, Budapest and Prague | AED 4,720 |
| Taste of Italy | 7 | Rome, Florence, Pisa, Cinque Terre and Venice | AED 4,940 |
| Taste of Spain | 7 | Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Pamplona and San Sebastián | AED 4,940 |
| Great Britain | 7 | England, Scotland and Wales | AED 5,491 |
| Europe Taster | 7 | London, Paris, the Swiss Alps, the Rhine, Amsterdam and Ghent | AED 6,005 |
| Best of Western Europe | 10 | London to Rome, by way of Paris, Lucerne, Innsbruck and Florence | AED 8,025 |
| Europe Highlights | 10 | A loop from Rome through Venice, Munich, the Rhine, Amsterdam, Paris and the Swiss Alps | AED 8,943 |
| Essential Europe | 12 | London, Amsterdam, Paris, Switzerland and Rome | AED 9,751 |
| Classic Europe | 14 | The same classic loop at a gentler pace | AED 11,697 |
How to choose:
- Want the postcard sights in one go? The Europe Taster covers Paris, an Alpine drive, a Rhine cruise and Amsterdam in a week. It is fast, with early starts and a new hotel most nights.
- Prefer fewer hotel changes? Pick a one-country week: Italy, Spain, Greece or Britain. You see more of each place and spend less time on the coach.
- Lowest price for several countries? Taste of Eastern Europe takes in Munich, Vienna, Budapest and Prague, and hotels and meals in Central Europe cost less than in Paris or Zurich.
- Have two weeks? Europe Highlights or Classic Europe give you the big loop at a gentler pace. Longer routes such as Best of Europe (22 days) and Ultimate Europe (26 days) suit a second visit.
Guided tour or do it yourself?
A guided coach tour packs the planning into one booking. On the Europe Taster, for example, the price includes six nights in 3- and 4-star hotels in twin rooms, six breakfasts and four dinners, an air-conditioned coach, and an English-speaking tour leader throughout. It doesn't include flights, travel insurance, lunches or the optional excursions offered along the way, such as the train up to Jungfraujoch in the Swiss Alps (about AED 960 per person, booked with your tour leader). Groups can be up to 53 people.
| Guided tour | Do it yourself | |
|---|---|---|
| Planning | Route, hotels, transport and a guide in one booking | You book every hotel, train and ticket |
| Visa application | One itinerary and a confirmed booking to show the consulate | You build the itinerary and bookings yourself |
| Pace | Fixed: early starts, set free time | Your own, with room for slow days |
| Cost | Predictable, and group hotel rates are hard to beat in peak season | Can be cheaper off-season, dearer in summer |
| Best for | First visits, families, older travellers, anyone short of time | Repeat visitors, one or two cities, flexible plans |
If you go it alone, trains link most big cities. In Switzerland a Swiss Travel Pass covers trains, buses and lake boats: CHF 254 for 3 days or CHF 439 for 8 days in second class at 2026 prices. Book high-speed trains in France, Italy and Spain early, because fares rise as the date gets closer.
What a Europe trip from Dubai costs
For a guided tour, add up four parts: the tour price, flights, the visa and insurance, and spending money on the ground.
| Cost | Typical amount |
|---|---|
| Guided tour, 7 days | From AED 4,389 to about AED 6,000 per person, twin share, depending on the route and date |
| Guided tour, 10 to 14 days | About AED 8,000 to 11,700 per person |
| Return flights | Quoted with your booking: fares swing widely by season, so book early for July, August and the Eid breaks |
| Schengen visa | EUR 90 per adult plus the visa centre's service charge, if your passport needs one |
| Optional excursions and lunches | Budget a few hundred dirhams per person per country |
| Tourist taxes | Charged per night by most cities, from a euro or two to 12.5% of the room rate in Amsterdam |
Doing it yourself, hotels drive the budget. Expect roughly EUR 90 to 160 a night for a mid-range double in Prague or Budapest, and often EUR 200 or more in Paris, Amsterdam or Zurich in summer. Venice also charges day-trippers an access fee of EUR 5 to 10 on its busiest spring and summer dates. Tour prices move by date, and not always the way you might expect: the Europe Taster costs from AED 6,005 per person on its August and early September 2027 dates, AED 6,372 to 6,740 in spring and autumn, and AED 7,217 in July.
When to go to Europe from the UAE
| Season | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Spring (April to May) | Mild days, blossom, and the Dutch tulip season from mid-March to early May. The Eid Al Adha break, expected around 15 to 18 May 2027, falls in the best of it. |
| Summer (June to August) | Long days and the UAE school holidays, but peak flight and hotel prices, queues and heat waves in Italy, Spain and Greece. Book tours and visa appointments months ahead. |
| Autumn (September to October) | Warm seas in the south, cooler cities, thinner crowds and lower prices once the schools go back. |
| Winter (November to March) | The cheapest season, with short days and cold weather. Christmas markets open from mid-November, and tours like Central Europe in Low Season (10 days, from AED 5,528) and Italy in Low Season (10 days, from AED 5,564) run through it. |
For the UAE winter break, Christmas and New Year departures of the Europe Taster leave London on 22 and 29 December 2026, from AED 6,850 and AED 6,189 per person. The National Day weekend, Thursday 2 to Sunday 5 December, is a little short for Europe unless you add leave. Our UAE public holidays 2027 guide shows where a few days of leave turn a long weekend into a week away.
Frequently asked questions
How many days do you need for a Europe trip from Dubai?
Seven days is enough for one country, or for a fast taster route such as London, Paris, the Swiss Alps and Amsterdam. Ten to fourteen days lets you see four to six countries without changing hotels every night. Allow a day either side for flights, because many guided tours start early on the first morning.
Do UAE residents need a visa for Europe?
It depends on the passport. Emiratis can visit the Schengen area without a visa for up to 90 days in any 180, and need a UK ETA for Britain. Most other nationalities living in the UAE need a Schengen visa (EUR 90 for adults), applied for at the consulate of the country where they will spend the most nights, and a separate UK visa for any time in Britain.
Which country should I apply to for a Schengen visa on a multi-country tour?
Apply to the country where you will spend the most nights. If the nights are equal, apply to the country you enter first. On a guided tour, the itinerary shows where each night is spent, and our visa team can tell you which consulate applies to your route.
How much does a Europe tour from Dubai cost?
Guided tours in our catalogue start from AED 4,389 per person for 7 days, and AED 6,005 for a first multi-country route through Paris, Switzerland and Amsterdam. Ten to fourteen days costs about AED 8,000 to 11,700 per person. Flights, the visa, insurance, lunches and optional excursions come on top.
What is the best month to visit Europe from the UAE?
May, June, September and October give the best balance of weather, prices and crowds. July and August suit families tied to the school holidays, but flights and hotels cost the most. November to March is cheapest, with Christmas markets from mid-November.
Is a guided tour or a self-planned trip better for a first visit?
For a first visit to several countries, a guided tour is usually easier: one booking covers hotels, transport and a tour leader, and a confirmed itinerary helps with the visa application. Planning it yourself works well for one or two cities, or if you want slow days and your own pace.
