Indonesia and Bali Visa for UAE Residents: e-VoA, Tourist e-Visa and the Bali Levy

Indonesia goes by passport, not UAE residence. Emirati, Indian and Egyptian nationals get a 30-day e-VoA for IDR 500,000, Filipinos need no visa, and Pakistani, Bangladeshi and Sri Lankan nationals need a C1 e-visa.

The short answer: Indonesia, Bali included, goes by your passport, not your UAE residence. Emirati, Indian and Egyptian nationals, and most Western passport holders, can get an e-VoA (electronic visa on arrival) for IDR 500,000, about AED 110, for a 30-day stay that can be extended once. Filipinos need no visa for up to 30 days. Pakistani, Bangladeshi and Sri Lankan nationals need a tourist e-visa before they fly. Everyone files the free All Indonesia arrival card, and visitors to Bali also pay a one-off IDR 150,000 tourist levy.

Bali's rice terraces, temples and beaches are one of the most popular long-haul holidays from the UAE, and Emirates flies there non-stop from Dubai. Jakarta, Lombok, Yogyakarta and Komodo follow the same rules, so check which group your passport is in first.

Why your UAE residence does not matter

Indonesia's immigration rules are set by nationality. The official e-VoA list names countries of citizenship, and the tourist-visa checklists ask for your passport, bank statement and photo, not your Emirates ID. An Indian living in Dubai follows the same rules as an Indian flying from Mumbai, and a Pakistani resident needs the same e-visa as an applicant in Karachi.

The e-VoA: Emirati, Indian, Egyptian and Western passports

The Directorate General of Immigration lists 97 countries whose nationals can get a visa on arrival, including the UAE, India and Egypt, most of Europe, the UK, the US and Australia. You can apply online as an e-VoA before you travel or buy the visa at the airport counter when you land. Applying online saves the queue.

  • Apply only on the official portal, evisa.imigrasi.go.id. Lookalike sites charge more.
  • Fee: IDR 500,000, about AED 110
  • Stay: 30 days, extendable once for another 30 days
  • Extensions: since 29 May 2025, extending any stay permit, a visa on arrival included, means a visit to an immigration office in Indonesia for a photo and interview, after you register online
  • Carry: a passport valid for at least six months and a return or onward ticket

In August 2026, Indonesia's immigration chief proposed raising the fee to IDR 750,000 if you apply before you travel, or IDR 1,000,000 at the airport. As of 8 October 2026 no new fee had taken effect, so check the portal before you pay.

Filipinos: no visa for 30 days

The Philippines is on Indonesia's short list of visa-exempt countries, which Indonesia cut to about a dozen in 2024 and has since extended a little. Filipino nationals can stay up to 30 days without a visa, but this stay cannot be extended or converted into another visa. For a longer trip, apply for a tourist visa instead.

The tourist e-visa for Pakistani, Bangladeshi and Sri Lankan nationals

Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are not on the visa-on-arrival list, so their nationals need a C1 tourist visa from the same portal before they travel.

  • Government fee: IDR 1,000,000, about AED 220. Agencies often quote a higher all-in price that includes their service charge.
  • Stay: up to 60 days, extendable in Indonesia up to 180 days in total
  • Documents: a passport valid for at least six months, a recent colour photo and a bank statement for the last three months showing at least USD 2,000
  • Processing: about five working days after payment; apply at least two weeks before you fly
  • Sponsor: most applicants do not need one, but Indonesia requires an Indonesian sponsor for nationals of certain countries. The portal tells you if this applies to you.

Frequent visitors can apply for the D1 multiple-entry tourist visa (from IDR 3,000,000 for one year), which also asks for an itinerary and a letter from an Indonesian organisation or family member.

The All Indonesia arrival card

Since October 2025, every arriving passenger, children included, fills in the All Indonesia form. It replaces the old paper arrival card, the customs declaration and the health pass. It is free, you submit it online within three days before you land, at allindonesia.imigrasi.go.id or in the app, and you show the QR code with your passport. It is not a visa, and it does not cover the Bali levy.

The Bali tourist levy

Bali charges foreign tourists a levy of IDR 150,000, about AED 33, paid once per visit. It has applied since 14 February 2024 and is still in force in 2026. Pay online before you travel at lovebali.baliprov.go.id, or at counters at the airport. You receive a QR-code voucher by email. Holders of long-stay permits such as a KITAS are exempt but must still apply for the exemption.

Flights from the UAE

Emirates flies non-stop from Dubai to Bali (Denpasar) in about nine hours and to Jakarta in about eight and a half. Etihad flies from Abu Dhabi to both. Schedules change, so check with the airline before you book.
