The short answer: flydubai flies non-stop from Dubai to Yerevan in about 3 hours 10 minutes, and Air Arabia covers the same route from Sharjah. Most UAE residents can currently enter Armenia without a visa under a rule that runs until 1 July 2027 (check your nationality); everyone else applies online for an e-visa from USD 8. A 5-day trip – Yerevan, Garni, Geghard, Lake Sevan, Dilijan and south to Khor Virap and Tatev – costs roughly AED 1,500–2,000 per person on the ground, on top of flights. Our National Day Armenia package runs 5 days and 4 nights from AED 2,799 per person, departing 2 December 2026.

Flights from Dubai and Sharjah to Yerevan

flydubai operates the Dubai–Yerevan route non-stop, year-round. Block times move a little with the season: current timetables show about 3 hours 15 minutes through late October, extending to roughly 3 hours 30 minutes on the winter schedule from late October. Air Arabia flies the same route non-stop from Sharjah, in a broadly similar time. Both airports sit in the same time zone as Dubai, so there is no jet lag to plan around.

Fares and timings shift by season and demand, so check flydubai.com or Air Arabia's site directly for your dates rather than relying on a figure in an article, including this one.

Do you need a visa for Armenia?

Since 1 July 2026, nationals of 111 countries holding UAE residence valid for at least six months from the day they arrive can enter Armenia without a visa, for stays of up to 180 days a year. India, Pakistan, the Philippines and Egypt are reported to be on that list; Emiratis never need a visa. The rule is temporary and runs until 1 July 2027. If your nationality is not on the list, or your residence has less than six months left, you apply online at evisa.mfa.am for USD 8 (up to 21 days) or USD 39 (up to 120 days).

We cover the full rule, the list and how to apply in our Armenia visa guide for UAE residents. If you would rather we handled the e-visa for you, see Armenia visa services.

What does an Armenia trip cost from Dubai?

Armenia prices in Armenian dram (AMD). At the time of writing, AED 1 is worth roughly AMD 105, so AMD 10,000 is about AED 95 – check a live rate before you travel, since it moves. On the ground, excluding international flights, a realistic 5-day budget per person looks like this:

  • Hotel (mid-range, sharing a double room): about AED 130–160 a night, so AED 520–640 for four nights
  • Food (a mix of casual cafes and sit-down restaurants): about AED 60–80 a day, so AED 300–400 for five days
  • Taxis and Yandex Go around Yerevan: about AED 25–35 a day, so AED 125–175
  • Day tours: a Garni–Geghard half day, a Sevan–Dilijan full day, and the long Khor Virap–Areni–Tatev day (including the Wings of Tatev cableway ticket) together run about AED 430–560
  • A local SIM or eSIM: about AED 25–35

That lands at roughly AED 1,500–2,000 per person for five days, before flights and before any package price. A private driver instead of day tours pushes the total up; travelling as a group of three or four, sharing a car and a guide, brings it down.

A 5-day Armenia itinerary

Day 1 – Yerevan

Settle in and spend the afternoon around Republic Square and the Cascade, the tiered stone stairway that climbs the hill north of the centre, with the Cafesjian Center for the Arts built into its terraces. On a clear day there is a view back over the city towards Mount Ararat.

Day 2 – Garni and Geghard

Garni Temple, a reconstructed Hellenistic-style temple on a basalt gorge about 30 km (45 minutes to an hour) from Yerevan, is usually paired with Geghard, a monastery partly carved into the cliffside a further 10 km on. Both fit into a half-day tour, leaving the afternoon free for the History Museum of Armenia or another look at the Cascade.

Day 3 – Lake Sevan and Dilijan

Lake Sevan is about 65–70 km and roughly an hour's drive from Yerevan; Sevanavank monastery sits on a peninsula above the water. Continue to Dilijan, Armenia's forested spa town, 30–40 km further (another 45 minutes to an hour), for lunch and a walk through its old quarter before heading back to Yerevan in the evening.

Day 4 – South Armenia: Khor Virap, Areni and Tatev

This is the longest day of the trip, and worth starting early. Khor Virap, about 45 km south of Yerevan, is the single best place in the country to photograph Mount Ararat, which rises just across the closed border with Turkey – go before midday, when summer haze tends to build. From there, continue to Areni, Armenia's wine region, for a tasting at a family winery, then on to Halidzor for the Wings of Tatev: a 5.75 km cable car, a Guinness World Record holder as the longest non-stop reversible aerial tramway, that crosses the Vorotan gorge in about 12 minutes to reach Tatev Monastery. Yerevan to Tatev is roughly 250 km each way, so this is a 12 to 13-hour day out and back. If that is too long for your group, add a sixth day and overnight near Goris instead.

Day 5 – Yerevan and departure

Keep the morning free for anything missed – the Blue Mosque, a cooking class, or a last pass through the Vernissage market – before heading to the airport.

Best time to visit Armenia

Yerevan swings between a hot, dry summer and a cold winter, with spring and autumn the most comfortable seasons for sightseeing.

June–August27–33 / 12–19Hot and dry in the city; the mountains and Lake Sevan stay cooler
September–October20–27 / 6–12Warm days, cool evenings, the Areni wine harvest in early October

December–February3–6 / -5 to -2Cold in Yerevan; skiing at Tsaghkadzor, usually mid-December to late March

Practical notes for your Armenia trip

  • Currency. The Armenian dram (AMD). AED 1 is roughly AMD 105 at the time of writing; check a live rate before you travel.
  • Cards. Widely accepted in Yerevan hotels, restaurants and shops. Carry cash dram for markets, minibuses and tips, especially outside the capital.
  • SIM. Viva-MTS and Ucom sell prepaid SIMs at Zvartnots airport and across the city; a short tourist data bundle costs a few dollars.
  • Halal food. Yerevan has halal-certified restaurants, and most kitchens can tell you what is in a dish, but it is not the default everywhere, so ask.
  • Safety and the border. Armenia is calm for travellers on the standard Yerevan–Garni–Sevan–Tatev route. Both the UK and US governments currently advise against travel within about 5 km of the eastern border with Azerbaijan, and along the Ijevan–Noyemberyan road; this does not affect the itinerary above, but check current advice before any detour toward the frontier.

How much does a 5-day Armenia trip cost from Dubai?

Budget roughly AED 1,500–2,000 per person on the ground – hotel, food, local transport and day tours including the Wings of Tatev ticket – on top of flights. Our National Day package starts from AED 2,799 per person.

What is the best time to visit Armenia?

April to June and September to October give the most comfortable weather for sightseeing. July and August are hot and dry; December to February are cold, with skiing at Tsaghkadzor.

Is Tatev worth the long day trip from Yerevan?

Yes for most visitors, if you start early. It is around 250 km each way, so budget 12 to 13 hours door to door, including the Wings of Tatev cable car and stops at Khor Virap and Areni on the way. If that is too long, add a sixth day and overnight near Goris instead.

Can I combine Armenia with Georgia on one trip?

Yes. Yerevan and Tbilisi are about five to six hours apart by road, and many UAE residents see both on one trip – see our Georgia visa guide and our flight times from Dubai guide before you plan the second leg.

Last checked 9 October 2026 against flydubai's and Air Arabia's route pages, Armenia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (mfa.am and evisa.mfa.am), the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office and US State Department travel advice, and published Yerevan climate averages.
