The short answer: a Georgia trip from Dubai is a direct flight of about three hours fifteen minutes, no onward transfer needed, and most UAE residents can plan on either visa-free entry or a quick e-visa (see our full visa guide). Budget roughly AED 2,200–3,800 per person, all in, for 5 days (4 nights) and AED 2,700–4,700 for 7 days (6 nights) if you plan it yourself, against mid-range hotels and one or two guided day trips. Our own packaged option runs from AED 2,999 for 6 days/5 nights, departing 2 December 2026.

How to get there from the UAE

flydubai flies nonstop from Dubai to Tbilisi several times a week, and it has run the route for years. Air Arabia flies nonstop from Sharjah to Tbilisi, and seasonally, broadly July to September, from Sharjah to Batumi on the Black Sea coast. There is no current direct flight from the UAE to Kutaisi; the Abu Dhabi link that once served it closed in 2025, so you connect through Tbilisi or another hub.

Nonstop flight time is around 3 hours 15 minutes, per the airlines' own route pages, though published block times vary by a few minutes depending on routing and winds, so treat it as approximate and check your specific flight. Round-trip economy fares move with the season: Air Arabia from Sharjah has shown fares from around AED 1,100, and flydubai's own route page lists round trips from about AED 1,730 in quieter months to over AED 2,000 in December. Booking three to four weeks ahead generally beats a last-minute fare.

Visa for UAE residents

Georgia has, at times, let UAE residents in without a visa for up to 90 days, but only if your residence permit meets specific conditions — generally multiple-entry, with at least 12 months left on it, and you travel on the passport the permit is attached to. This is administered as a policy that gets renewed periodically, not a permanent rule, so it has lapsed before. If your permit doesn't qualify, or your nationality isn't on Georgia's separate visa-free list, you apply for the Georgian e-visa online, which usually takes about five working days.

We cover this in full, with the exact document list and who it applies to, in our Georgia visa guide. One thing that applies regardless of visa route: since 1 January 2026, Georgia requires every foreign visitor to carry health and accident insurance for the whole stay, with a minimum cover of GEL 30,000 (about USD 11,000). Visa-free entry does not exempt you from this. Buy a policy before you fly and keep proof on your phone.

What a Georgia trip costs from Dubai

These are ground-cost ranges per person, assuming two people sharing a room and a mid-range travel style; a solo trip or a luxury one will sit outside them.

Hotel and tour prices are quoted in Georgian lari on the ground; we've converted at about AED 1.35 per GEL, the mid-2026 rate, so check the live rate closer to your travel dates. A private driver for the Kazbegi/Gudauri run, rather than a shared group tour, typically costs more per person in a small group but saves time and lets you stop where you like.

A 5-day Georgia itinerary

  • Day 1 — Old Tbilisi. Land, check in, then walk Old Tbilisi: the wooden balconies of the historic quarter, the domed Abanotubani sulphur-bath houses, and the Bridge of Peace over the Mtkvari river at dusk.
  • Day 2 — Mtskheta and Kazbegi. A full day on the Georgian Military Road: Georgia's ancient capital, Mtskheta, in the morning, then up through Gudauri to Stepantsminda (Kazbegi) under Mount Kazbek. Allow a long day; it's a mountain road, not a motorway.
  • Day 3 — Kakheti wine country. East to Georgia's main wine region: a family winery tasting, a walk through the walled hill town of Signagi, and lunch at a village guesthouse.
  • Day 4 — Borjomi, or a free day. Either the spa town of Borjomi, with its wooded gorge and mineral-water park, or a slower day back in Tbilisi: the old town's museums, a second sulphur bath, or simply more time for food.
  • Day 5 — Depart. A free morning, then the airport.

A 7-day Georgia itinerary, with Batumi

  • Days 1–4 follow the 5-day plan above: Old Tbilisi, Mtskheta and Kazbegi, Kakheti, and Borjomi.
  • Day 5 — Travel to Batumi. The train from Tbilisi to Batumi takes around five to six hours; a domestic flight is roughly 40 minutes. Settle in and walk the seafront boulevard in the evening.
  • Day 6 — Batumi. A full day on the Black Sea coast: the Botanical Garden, Europe Square, and the beach or boulevard depending on the season (see our best time to visit Georgia guide for when the sea is actually warm enough to swim).
  • Day 7 — Depart. Outside the seasonal Sharjah–Batumi window (roughly July to September), you'll fly or take the train back to Tbilisi to connect home; in season, a direct Batumi–Sharjah flight may save you that leg.

Practical things to know before you go

Money

Georgia uses the lari (GEL). Cards are widely accepted in Tbilisi and Batumi hotels, restaurants and fuel stations; carry 50–100 GEL in cash for markets, minibuses, village guesthouses and small cafés, especially outside the main cities. ATMs are plentiful; choose to be charged in GEL rather than accepting the ATM's own currency conversion, which usually costs more.

SIM and eSIM

A local SIM from Magti, Geocell or Beeline costs around 10 GEL (about AED 13–14) for the card, with data packages from around 5 GEL. An eSIM bought ahead of travel, through any of the usual international providers, is the easier option if your phone supports it, typically a few dollars for a short trip's worth of data. Coverage in the mountains (Kazbegi, the Georgian Military Road) can be patchy regardless of network.

Halal food

Tbilisi has halal options, concentrated around the Old Town, Rustaveli Avenue and the area near the historic Jumah Mosque, including Indian, Pakistani, Lebanese and Persian restaurants. Georgian cuisine itself is a mixed picture: khinkali dumplings and khachapuri cheese bread are typically meat, cheese or potato, but pork and wine are common elsewhere on the table, so ask before you order anything you haven't seen made. Batumi has fewer dedicated halal venues than Tbilisi; check ahead if it matters to you.

Driving yourself

If you rent a car, carry an International Driving Permit alongside your home licence; most rental companies in Georgia ask for one and some will not hand over the car without it, even where the legal requirement itself is debated. Minimum rental age is usually 21–23 depending on the company. The Georgian Military Road through the Jvari Pass to Gudauri and Kazbegi can close temporarily for snow or avalanche risk between roughly December and April; check road status before you set out in winter and build in a buffer if you're driving yourself rather than joining a tour.

Safety

Georgia is rated at the lowest-concern tier by the US State Department, and the everyday risks for visitors are ordinary ones: uneven pavements and mountain roads, taxis without meters, and inflated bills at a handful of Tbilisi and Batumi nightlife venues. The Russian-occupied regions of South Ossetia and Abkhazia, and the areas immediately next to their boundary lines, are a different matter — most foreign ministries advise against travel there, and that's not on any normal tourist itinerary in any case.

Frequently asked questions

How long is the flight from Dubai to Georgia?

About 3 hours 15 minutes nonstop to Tbilisi, on flydubai from Dubai or Air Arabia from Sharjah. Treat this as approximate and check your specific flight, since published times vary slightly by route and season.

Do UAE residents need a visa for Georgia?

It depends on your residence permit and passport. Many UAE residents travel visa-free on a qualifying permit; others need Georgia's e-visa. See our full Georgia visa guide for the conditions. Either way, Georgia has required all foreign visitors to carry travel insurance since 1 January 2026.

How much does a 5-day Georgia trip cost from Dubai?

Budget roughly AED 2,200–3,800 per person, all in, for 5 days (4 nights) at a mid-range, DIY pace, including flights, hotels, food, local transport and one guided day trip. Our own 6D/5N package starts at AED 2,999.

Can I do Kazbegi and Gudauri as a day trip from Tbilisi?

Yes. It's a long day — figure 10 to 12 hours round trip, including the drive on the Georgian Military Road — but it's the standard way to see Gudauri and Stepantsminda without changing hotels. Shared group tours run from around AED 100–125 per person; private drivers cost more but are more flexible.

Do I need an international driving licence to drive in Georgia?

Most rental companies will ask for an International Driving Permit alongside your home licence, and several won't release a car without one, so carry it even if you're unsure whether it's strictly required at the border. Confirm directly with your rental company before you book.

Is Batumi worth adding to a Georgia trip from Dubai?

For a 7-day trip, yes — it's a different Georgia, with a Black Sea boulevard, a botanical garden and a beach season roughly June to September. For a 5-day trip, it usually means dropping either Kakheti or Borjomi to fit it in, so most first-time visitors save it for a longer or second trip.
