The short answer: the two cheapest family holidays from the UAE are Bali from AED 4,875 per person for four nights and Georgia from AED 6,000 for six. If you are staying in the UAE, the Dubai Family Theme Park Bonanza is AED 9,000 for six nights with the parks built in. Package prices are per person on a sharing basis and exclude flights, which we quote with your dates. Last checked 21 October 2026.
Most family travel pages list destinations without saying which ages they actually suit, which is the only question that matters when you are travelling with a four-year-old and a fourteen-year-old at the same time. This guide gives the price and then the honest answer. Everything is on holiday packages.

Short flights win, and it is not close
If there is one thing worth taking from this page, it is that flight time matters more than the destination when you are travelling with children. A three-hour flight to Georgia and a nine-hour flight to Bali are different holidays even if the brochure photos look similar, because one costs you an afternoon and the other costs you a day at each end plus the jet lag that follows.
Within four hours of Dubai you have Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Oman, the Maldives and Jordan. That short-haul list is where we point most families with children under eight. Georgia at AED 6,000 for six nights is the standout: mountains, cable cars, a real summer rather than a hot one, food children actually eat, and low prices once you land.
Staying in the UAE: the theme park maths
A staycation is often the right answer and the Theme Park Bonanza at AED 9,000 for six nights is the package families take most, because the park tickets are in the price. Bought separately, a family of four at two or three of Dubai's parks will spend most of the difference on tickets alone, so the package maths works out.
For a cheaper week, the Holiday Inn Family Adventure is AED 5,625 for five nights, and the Budget Dubai Explorer starts at AED 1,500 for four nights if what you need is a base rather than a resort. All of our Dubai options are on Dubai packages.
One caution worth stating: a Dubai summer, roughly June to September, is not a family holiday unless your plan is indoors all day. The parks are genuinely hard going in August. Those months are when flying somewhere cooler makes most sense.
Which destinations suit which ages
Under five. Keep the flight under four hours and pick one hotel rather than a tour. Georgia, Oman or a Dubai staycation. Anything that involves changing hotels every two nights will not be a holiday for you.
Five to nine. The theme park years. Dubai's parks, or Bali if you can take the flight, where the hotel pool does most of the work and a driver for a day costs very little. Georgia works well too, with cable cars and the Caucasus doing the heavy lifting.
Ten to fourteen. The best years for travelling, and where a longer trip starts to pay off. Japan at AED 11,500 for nine nights is remarkable with children of this age: the trains, the food and the sheer strangeness of it land properly. Europe starts to make sense here too.
Fifteen and up. They will want the city, not the resort. Our multi-country group tours work for families with teenagers, and what a group tour includes is worth reading first, and several European routes cross three or more countries in a week to ten days.
Europe with a family
Europe is the question we get most from families with older children, and the honest answer is that it is the most expensive option here and the most work. Our Europe holidays and escorted tours start at AED 5,490 per person for seven days in Ireland in low season, and the typical Europe tour is AED 11,410 for 11 days. For four people that is a meaningful number before flights.
Two things to plan around. Schengen visas take time and every family member needs one: applications through us start at AED 940 per person, and you should start them as soon as the dates are fixed, not after booking flights. Read how to apply for a Schengen visa from Dubai. And a coach tour with children under about eight is hard work for everyone on the coach, including you. For younger families we would rather sell you one country and one hotel.
What a family of four actually spends
Package prices are per person, so here is the arithmetic for two adults and two children, including a realistic flight estimate. Where a package publishes a child rate it is a real saving: Georgia is AED 4,125 for a child aged 2 to 11 and free for an infant under 2, and Japan is AED 9,125 for a child. Where no child rate is shown, ask us before you assume the adult price.
| Trip | Package, 4 people | Flights, estimate | Rough total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dubai theme parks, 6 nights | AED 36,000 | None | AED 36,000 |
| Georgia, 6 nights | AED 20,250 with 2 child rates | AED 4,000 to 6,000 | AED 24,000 to 26,500 |
| Bali, 4 nights | AED 19,500 | AED 7,000 to 11,000 | AED 27,000 to 31,000 |
| Japan, 9 nights | AED 41,250 with 2 child rates | AED 8,000 to 12,000 | AED 49,000 to 53,500 |
Add visas where they apply: Georgia from AED 420 a person, Indonesia from AED 375, Japan from AED 295, Schengen from AED 940. Nothing on this page includes travel insurance, which is compulsory for a Schengen application anyway.
Booking around the school calendar
Fares and hotel rates in the UAE move with the school terms, not with the seasons. The expensive windows are the winter break in late December, the spring break around the end of March, and the whole of July and August. Term-time weeks either side of those are materially cheaper for the same hotel. If your children are young enough that a week out of term does no harm, the saving is real. Our UAE winter break guide has the exact dates, and where to travel in December from the UAE compares destinations for the long break.
Frequently asked questions
What is the cheapest family holiday from Dubai?
Bali at AED 4,875 per person for four nights, or Georgia at AED 6,000 for six. Within the UAE, the Budget Dubai Explorer starts at AED 1,500 per person for four nights.
Do family packages include flights?
No, the package price covers the stay. We quote flights from Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Sharjah for your dates alongside it so you get one total.
Are there child rates?
Usually, and they depend on the hotel, the room and the child's age. Tell us the ages when you enquire and we will price the family properly rather than multiplying the adult rate.
Which short-haul destination is best with young children?
Georgia, for the three-hour flight, the summer climate and how far the money goes once you land. Oman is the shortest trip of all if you only have a long weekend.
Is a group tour suitable for families?
With children of about ten and up, yes, and multi-country routes are good value. With children under eight we would steer you to one country and one hotel instead.
When is Dubai too hot for a family staycation?
June to September, unless the plan is indoors. The water parks are manageable early in the day; the dry parks are not.
