The short answer: on a Philippine passport alone, third-party trackers disagree but land in the same range: Passport Index, cited by Gulf News in mid-February 2026, counts around 36 fully visa-free destinations and another 40 or so reachable on a visa on arrival or an electronic authorisation, for about 78 in total, ranked 68th; a separate March 2026 guide gives 34 visa-free and 65th place instead. Most of that visa-free core is Southeast Asia itself, plus Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. A UAE residence visa adds a short, specific list on top of the passport: Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain and Kuwait each open a GCC-resident route that is easier than applying on the Philippine passport alone, and Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan add three more under their own conditions. This guide sets out all three layers, what changed in 2026, and where Holidayys can and cannot help.
This comes up most for Filipino nationals working in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah who want to know, before they book a flight, whether a visa needs arranging at all. It matters more for Filipino travellers than for some neighbouring nationalities, because the Philippines sits inside ASEAN: several of the region's most popular holiday destinations are visa-free for a Philippine passport in a way they are not for an Indian, Pakistani or Sri Lankan one. The lists below separate four situations: where the passport alone is enough, where a visa on arrival or an electronic authorisation is needed, where a UAE residence visa reaches a country or a route the passport does not, and a short list of changes from 2026 worth tracking before you book.
Visa-free countries for Filipino passport holders at a glance
| Question | Answer (October 2026) |
|---|---|
| Passport Index count | Reported as about 78 destinations without a visa arranged ahead (roughly 36 visa-free, about 40 more on arrival or eTA), ranked 68th; a second 2026 guide gives 34 visa-free and 65th. The Philippines' own Department of Foreign Affairs does not publish an outbound list of its own |
| Fully visa-free, no paperwork | Singapore, Thailand (30 days), Malaysia (30 days), Cambodia (30 days), Indonesia (30 days), Vietnam (21 days), Hong Kong (14 days), Taiwan (14 days, to 31 Jul 2027) |
| Visa on arrival | Maldives (free, 30 days) |
| Electronic travel authorisation, fee applies | Sri Lanka (not on the free-ETA list), Kenya |
| UAE residence unlocks a GCC eVisa or an easier route | Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan |
| A valid US, UK or Schengen visa unlocks entry | Turkey (e-Visa eligibility), Mexico |
| Dates to watch | Oman's promised 2026 visa exemption for Philippine passports has no confirmed start date yet; the Philippines–Taiwan reciprocal exemption runs to mid-2027; Armenia's UAE-resident scheme is reported to run to 1 Jul 2027 |
Where a Philippine passport alone is enough
These destinations ask nothing before you fly: no e-visa, no fee, no UAE residence requirement. Most still expect a passport valid six months beyond your stay, a return ticket, and for several of them a free digital arrival card completed shortly before landing.
| Destination | Stay allowed | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Singapore | Set by the immigration officer on arrival, commonly up to 30 days | No visa required for social visits. The SG Arrival Card is free and mandatory online within 3 days of arrival – see our Singapore visa guide |
| Thailand | Up to 30 days, tourism only | Cut from 60 days when the rule changed on 15 Sep 2026. The free Thailand Digital Arrival Card is mandatory before landing – see our Thailand visa guide |
| Cambodia | Up to 30 days | Tourism only; confirm the current terms with Cambodia's immigration department before a long stay – see our Cambodia visa guide |
| Indonesia | Up to 30 days, not extendable or convertible | Indonesia's visa exemption covers its ASEAN neighbours, the Philippines among them – see our Indonesia visa guide |
| Vietnam | Up to 21 days | A fixed allowance under Vietnam's own exemption list, not extendable from inside the country – see our Vietnam visa guide |
| Hong Kong | Up to 14 days | No pre-arrival registration required, unlike the rule for Indian passport holders – see our Hong Kong visa guide |
| Taiwan | Up to 14 days, non-extendable | Reciprocal with the Philippines' own exemption for Taiwan passport holders; both sides renewed the arrangement in July 2026, to 31 Jul 2027 on Taiwan's side |
Treat these as the confirmed core rather than the whole of Southeast Asia: Laos and Myanmar are commonly reported as visa-free for 14 to 30 days under older bilateral notices, and Brunei is reported both at 14 and 30 days across different guides, so none of the three made the table above without a figure we could pin down this week. Malaysia is also visa-free for up to 30 days, with the free Malaysia Digital Arrival Card filled in within 3 days before arrival: see our Malaysia visa guide. Macau is widely reported as visa-free alongside Hong Kong, typically for 30 days, though we found no dedicated notice to cite directly. None of these three gaps change the shape of the list: Southeast Asia and its immediate neighbours are visa-free for a Philippine passport almost everywhere a Filipino traveller from Dubai is likely to go.
Visa on arrival and electronic travel authorisations
These need either a counter and a form at the airport, or an online application before you fly, but no embassy visit.
| Destination | Fee | Stay | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Maldives | Free | 30 days | Needs a return ticket, a prepaid booking at a registered resort or hotel, and the free IMUGA traveller declaration online within 96 hours of arrival – see our Maldives visa guide |
| Sri Lanka | Reported at USD 50 | 30 days, double entry | The Philippines is not on the list of 40 nationalities Sri Lanka made its ETA free for from 25 May 2026, so the standard fee still applies – see our Sri Lanka visa guide |
| Kenya | Reported at USD 30–35 | Typically up to 90 days, set at entry | Filipino nationals apply on the same terms as everyone else; no exemption is reported – see our Kenya visa guide |
If your Philippine passport has less than six months left, renew it before you book any of these trips. Renewal is handled by the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate General in Dubai, separately from any of the visas above. If family are coming to visit you instead, our UAE visit visa for Filipinos guide covers that direction.
Where your UAE residence visa does the work
A Philippine passport does not reach Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain or Kuwait on its own in most cases; holding a valid UAE residence visa or Emirates ID is what opens each country's GCC-resident route instead. Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan add a further three destinations, each on its own terms.
| Destination | What UAE residence gets you | Fee | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Saudi Arabia | GCC-resident tourist eVisa, any profession | About SAR 300 plus compulsory medical insurance | One year, multiple entry, up to 90 days a visit. The Philippine passport is not on Saudi Arabia's own standalone eVisa list, so for most Filipino residents this route is the only online one – see our Saudi visa guide |
| Qatar | GCC Resident Visa (A2) via Hayya | QAR 100 | Passport and UAE residence each need 3+ months left; up to two months, multiple entry, since a November 2025 update. The Philippines is also not on Qatar's standalone visa-on-arrival list – see our Qatar visa guide |
| Oman | GCC-resident e-visa, if your job title is on Oman's approved list | OMR 5 | UAE residence needs 3+ months left. Oman's Foreign Ministry said in December 2025 that Philippine passports would be added to a separate, full visa exemption in 2026, with no confirmed start date yet – see our Oman visa guide |
| Bahrain | eVisa or visa on arrival for GCC residents | From about BD 5 (2-week visa on arrival) | Eligibility also depends on job title; check evisa.gov.bh – see our Bahrain visa guide |
| Kuwait | Tourist visa on arrival, any job, since August 2025 | About KWD 10 plus a KWD 5 health-cover fee | 90 days; UAE residence and passport each need 6+ months left. Filipino nationals are not on Kuwait's short list of passports barred from the GCC-resident e-visa either – see our Kuwait visa guide |
| Georgia | Visa-free, 90 days in any 180 | None | The Philippines is not on Georgia's list of 17 nationalities that need a multiple-entry UAE visa valid a year or more; any valid UAE residence document works – see our Georgia visa guide |
| Armenia | Visa-free, reported to run from 1 Jul 2026 to 1 Jul 2027 | None | Needs at least 6 months left on your UAE residence; up to 180 days a year. The Philippines is named in Armenia's own list of 111 eligible nationalities – confirm on Armenia's Foreign Ministry site before relying on it – see our Armenia visa guide |
| Azerbaijan | Visa on arrival at Baku's airports | Charged on arrival | The Azerbaijani embassy's own wording is "holders of a UAE resident visa can be issued a visa," with no nationality list attached – see our Azerbaijan visa guide |
Two routes that work for other nationalities do not work the same way for a Philippine passport. Kyrgyzstan's visa-free rule, in force since January 2025, covers Emiratis and some other Gulf nationals, not UAE residents of other nationalities: a Filipino still needs the standard tourist e-visa, at around USD 52 for a single entry, whatever your residence status. Mexico is the other exception worth naming precisely, because it runs the opposite way to the GCC routes above: it is not your UAE residence that counts, but a currently valid US, Canadian, Japanese, UK or Schengen visa, which lets you skip Mexico's own visa for up to 180 days. The Philippines is not on Mexico's own visa-free list, so without one of those foreign visas you would apply at the Mexican Embassy in Abu Dhabi instead – see our Mexico visa guide.
Recently added, changed or still unconfirmed
A few points are worth tracking rather than treating as settled. Oman's Foreign Ministry said in December 2025 that it would add the Philippines to its list of nationalities exempt from a tourist visa altogether, "starting next year"; as of this guide, we could not find the exact start date, the stay length, or confirmation that the exemption has actually taken effect, so treat it as announced rather than live until you check Oman's immigration site or the Royal Oman Police eVisa portal. Taiwan and the Philippines renewed their reciprocal 14-day exemptions in mid-2026, each for another year: the Philippines' side runs to 30 June 2027, and Taiwan's to 31 July 2027. Thailand cut its exemption from 60 to 30 days on 15 September 2026, the same change that affected several other nationalities in this guide's sister posts. Sri Lanka made its tourist ETA free for 40 nationalities from 25 May 2026; the Philippines was not one of them, which is worth knowing if you have seen the "free Sri Lanka visa" headlines and assumed it covered every passport.
Popular trips from the UAE for Filipino travellers
Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam are the three Filipino travellers ask us about most, partly because the passport makes them simple and partly because they are well served by our Asian holiday packages: Thailand at 5 nights and 6 days from AED 2,500, Bali at 4 nights and 5 days from AED 3,899, and the 8-day, 7-night "Vietnam Heritage Journey" from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City from AED 7,200. Singapore (4 nights, 5 days, from AED 3,500) and Malaysia (3 nights, 4 days, from AED 3,000) round out the same visa-free group. For something further afield on the same UAE residence visa, Georgia and Armenia are both on our UAE National Day packages, departing 2 December 2026: Georgia at 6 days and 5 nights from AED 2,999, and Armenia at 5 days and 4 nights from AED 2,799. Turkey is also on that list at 6 days and 5 nights from AED 3,299, or as a longer, guided trip on our Highlights of Turkey tour (10 days, from AED 6,409, next departure 17 April 2027). We quote flights from the UAE alongside any of these on request.
Common mistakes
Three things catch Filipino travellers out more than the visa rules themselves. The first is passport validity: most of the destinations above, and nearly all of the GCC routes, ask for six months of validity beyond your travel dates, and Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Kuwait separately ask for a similar cushion on your UAE residence visa or Emirates ID. If yours is due, check the passport's own validity window well before you book, not after. The second is the onward or return ticket: Singapore, the Maldives and several of the GCC eVisas all ask for one, and an immigration officer can refuse entry without it even if your visa or exemption is otherwise in order. The third is paperwork at home rather than abroad: a trip home to the Philippines needs its own eTravel registration within 72 hours of departure, for every traveller, and a returning overseas worker going back to the same employer needs a valid OFW Travel Pass (the digital successor to the paper OEC) before leaving again, not just the eTravel form. None of this replaces the destination's own visa requirement; it sits alongside it.
Where Holidayys helps
Several of the destinations above – Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Turkey and Kenya – are among the countries our visa services desk arranges, with prices from AED 130, depending on the country; each country's page shows its own starting price. A few places in this guide, including Sri Lanka, Nepal, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Mexico and Kyrgyzstan, are not currently on that list. For those, or if you are not sure which bucket your trip falls into, message us on WhatsApp at +971 4 589 0001 or use our contact page and we will tell you plainly whether we can arrange it. If a UAE visa status check is what you need first, our free UAE visa check tracks your own visa with reminders, which is different from any of the destination visas above. We do not renew Philippine passports or issue OFW Travel Passes; those stay with the Philippine Embassy, the Consulate General and the Department of Migrant Workers.
Frequently asked questions
How many countries can Filipino passport holders visit without a visa?
Third-party trackers disagree by a few destinations: Passport Index, as reported by Gulf News in mid-February 2026, counts around 36 fully visa-free destinations and about 40 more reachable on a visa on arrival or an electronic authorisation, for roughly 78 in total, ranking the Philippines 68th; a separate March 2026 guide instead gives 34 visa-free destinations and 65th place. The Philippines' own Department of Foreign Affairs does not publish a matching outbound list, so both figures trace back to commercial trackers rather than an official Philippine source.
Does my UAE residence visa let me skip a country's own visa?
Only in a specific set of places: Georgia offers visa-free entry on a valid UAE residence document, Armenia is reported to do the same under its temporary scheme, and Azerbaijan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman and Kuwait each offer an easier GCC-resident visa route. Outside that list, your Philippine passport's own status is what counts. Kyrgyzstan is a common point of confusion: its visa-free rule covers Emiratis, not UAE residents of other nationalities, so a Filipino passport still needs the standard e-visa there.
Is Thailand still visa-free for Filipinos in 2026?
Yes, for stays of up to 30 days for tourism, but the allowance was cut from 60 days when the rule changed on 15 September 2026. The free Thailand Digital Arrival Card is still required before you land, regardless of the visa exemption.
Can a US, UK or Schengen visa get me into other countries without their own visa?
Yes, for a specific short list that matters more to Filipino travellers for Mexico and Turkey. A currently valid US, Canadian, Japanese, UK or Schengen visa lets you skip Mexico's own visa for up to 180 days, and the same family of visas makes a Philippine passport eligible for Turkey's conditional e-Visa. A UAE residence visa does not work for either of these; only the Western visa does, which is the opposite pattern from the Georgia, Armenia and GCC-resident routes above.
Do I still need eTravel if my destination or return is visa-free?
Yes. eTravel is a Philippine government requirement for every international departure and arrival, filled in online within 72 hours of your flight, regardless of whether the country you are visiting needs a visa from you. It runs alongside the destination's own entry rules, not instead of them, and a returning overseas worker also needs a valid OFW Travel Pass before leaving the Philippines again.
Which countries recently changed their rules for Filipino passport holders?
Thailand cut its tourist exemption from 60 to 30 days on 15 September 2026. The Philippines and Taiwan renewed their reciprocal 14-day exemptions in mid-2026, each now running to mid-2027. Oman's Foreign Ministry announced in December 2025 that it would exempt Philippine passport holders from a tourist visa in 2026, though we could not confirm this has taken effect yet. Sri Lanka made its ETA free for 40 nationalities from 25 May 2026, but the Philippines was not included.
